Application of Alfalfa Dryer

The alfalfa dryer is suitable for drying elephant grass, alfalfa, wheat straw, barley straw, oat straw, rye straw, rice straw, sorghum straw, corn straw, potato vines, legume stems and other pasture straw with moisture content of 45-75%.

Advantages of Alfalfa Dryer

  • Compared with the single-cylinder dryer, the length of the three-pass rotary dryer is shortened by 50%, the construction area is reduced, the power consumption is reduced by 60%, and the project investment is saved by about 40%.
  • The alfalfa dryer has good sealing performance and is equipped with a complete dust removal device to prevent dust from overflowing.
  • The whole alfalfa drying system adopts centralized electrical control, which has a high degree of automation and is easy to operate.
  • It can be equipped with subsequent sections such as crushing, mixing, pelletizing, packing, and briquetting to improve the deep processing level of alfalfa.
  • The finished product retains the green and nutrient components of alfalfa, and has a good taste, which not only enhances the appetite of livestock, but also improves economic benefits.

Working Principle

Material Flow: the crushed materials of which the moisture is about 35%-55% are sent into the roller by conveyor to realize downstream drying. Under the effect of inner shoveling plate, materials are took and scattered constantly, and move in spiral forward method. Through three layers (inner, middle and outer layer), heat exchange are realized between material and hot air medium. The materials that achieve drying effect move forward fastly and are discharged out of the roller. Wet materials that still don’t achieve drying effect couldn’t move fastly due to self-weight, and are dried completely during the controlling route, thus achieving drying effect. Material moisture is decreased to 12%-15%. After the whole drying process is completed, materials are discharged by screw conveyor. Inside the roller is installed with vibrating cleaning device, which prevents materials from bonding to the cylinder wall.

Air Flow: through hot blast stove and air blower inflating, the air enters into the hot blast stove for combustion heating. Its temperature reaches up to 300-500℃, then it is inhaled by the dryer induced draft fan to dry material and evaporate water. When temperature decreases to 55-60℃, it is discharged out of the dryer. Wet air containing dust are discharged on standard through dust remover purifying.
